School Wash Program 2020 at Phum O Primary School

09/11/2020

Today the "School Wash Program" project at Phum O Primary School was officially opened. All systems run smoothly. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, schools in Cambodia were also closed until yesterday. Today the school started again. The first children tried out the filtered drinking water and, especially important in Corona times, the wash house was tested with plenty of soap and fresh water.

The teachers now receive training on hygiene and the teaching material to teach the children about it.

Our local cooperation partner "Clear Cambodia" has again delivered first-class work in difficult times on this project. Thank you very much for that.

Thanks also to all the teachers at Phum O Primary School for their work on site.

And last but not least, thanks to all donors from Germany who made this project possible with their money!

The last step of the School Wash Project by Wasserzeichen e.V. in collaboration with Clear Cambodia at the Phum O Primary School has now been completed. The organic sand water filter system was installed jointly. The system works and can supply up to 500 people with clean drinking water. Everyone is now waiting for the starting shot so that the school can start again properly. Our contact teacher Mr. Oem Oeng teaches, like his colleagues, the children at home in the meantime ...

And yet another step has been taken: the School Wash Project by Wasserzeichen e.V. at Phum O Primary School is nearing completion. Now all that is missing is the organic sand water filter system, and then all buildings will be completed. However, due to Covid-19, the commissioning will be delayed, as the schools in Cambodia, for example. Are currently closed. Our contact teacher Mr. Oem Oeng, like his colleagues, teaches the children at home in the meantime ... sometimes under the houses, since the rainy season has started and there are dry places to study.

The School Wash Program 2020 from WasserZeichen e.V. at the Phum O Primary School near Siem Reap is slowly taking shape. The toilet facility is already in the shell. The base for the tanks of the organic sand water filter is already finished. The wash house and waste incineration plant are also already recognizable.
In Cambodia, like us, schools are currently closed. Therefore, the construction work is possible at the moment without disrupting school operations.
Meanwhile, the students are homeschooled by the teachers.
On the photos you can see our contact teacher Mr. Oem Oeng with small groups in a home environment during the class. If it rains, the lessons will simply continue under the house.
Improvisation is everything!
